 My music recommendations
One of the hardest hittign rock bands Muse offers a delightful wall of bone crunching distortion and face melting fret work. This European band molds its unique sound from layers of effects backed by an absolutly solid base of talent and skill.
Spin the disc and sit back for and hour of com[lete isolation and utter calm. Aphex Twin is a master at employing simple ambient rhythems into a beautiful tapestry of relaxed sounds. This album has many inspirational tracks including my personal favorite "Next Heap With" which is a collection of synth strings backed by a regal horn melody which is strangely sad. An excellent album.
One of the freshest jazz bands on the scene, The Bad Plus offer an extrordinary bombardment of sound in their lates album "Suspicious Activity". This jazz trio accels in clever melodies and are an extermly tight band to watch. This band can build a song like no other, prime example "Prehensile Dream" off this album. As well as jazz they Bad Plus are great at taking classic rock songs and making them their own. With stunning renditions of "Smells like Teen Spirit, and Ironman" the band takes rock to a whole new level. A definate must hear.
Jaco, simply put the greatest bass player who ever lived. This album consists of Jaco playing in his prime with the jazz fusion band "Weather Report". A hands down showcase of Jaco's musical skill this album represents not only a piece of jazz history, but also the pinacle of accomplishment for an aspiring bass player.
