Getting Started

Since i was little i have always been into music. I have started at the age of 8 on the flute (yeah, its kind of standard around here to start with the flute).
At ten i had to decide what instrument i wanted to get lessons in. My father had a guitar. And i always liked that. But i almost never heard him play (not that i can remember at least). My mother played a horn, my father is singing. My big brother played the tuba. My sister played the Piano. My little brother was just starting out on flute.
So to make my decision.  I decided on the trompet. I played it for 12 years. Last year i stopped (quick calculation will learn you that i am now 23).
Since half a year or so, my husband has a drumset. He drums very good. He has had lessons for half a year now. But he was always drumming with his fingers on everything! Even on me.
Over the years we had often been at a friend and made some music, for the fun. Most of it covers. That worked out pretty good. But somehow the women that sings couldnt get her voice loud enough to get over all the noice.
So they found a music studio wich we can hire for an afternoon for a reasonable amount of money. Since this is happening, i come along as well. I am second vocal. Well not really second. We sing in turns. And to be honest, though i thought it was sounding quite well, i do need some practice.

But since the very beginning we were getting together to make some music with this group. I have had the acking. When i was little i tried to play my fathers guitar a lot. And now i wanted to get serious.
So yesterday, on my birthday (yes, the one that i turned 23), my husband bought me a guitar. Nothing fancy, very cheap, but hey, i want to practice first anyway. So i started out at it yesterday. I know how to play some notes now (got a very childish how to play your guitar book with it) and i know how to play some chords. Ehm........really actually two chords. It is the C and G7. Then i got to the F chord.......and then the hard part came!
I just cant get it to sound right. Somehow, my fingers get all tied up and muffle the sound of the snares..........
But! I have found guitar.about.com with great free lessons! So i am going to try and follow that!
