This album is only the first, of what will hopefully be many for the death metal band the Faceless. The minute you start, you get a smack in the face by what the Faceless is: heavy, fast, and differnt. Listening to the song "Akeldama" will change your prespective on death metal (as it did for me). If you're into death metal, and don't mind the weirdness of certain bands, then you should check out the Faceless!
This album is a masterpiece. Every song is amazing, and is truly their best work.
Necrophagist is known for their neo-classical riffs, and heavy sounds, but in their new album "Epitaph" they seem to take a new approch to things, while still staying true to the death metal sound. "Epitaph" differs from "Onset to Putrefaction" on certain points; the neo-classical solo's Suicmez was known for is missing in this album, but the heaviness is still there, and Suicmez has even involved new things into this album which he didn't have in the last one (such as Polka in "Only Ash Remains"). If you're new to Necrophagist, then you should get Epitaph. And if you've been a Necro fan for a while, then you won't be dissapointed by it.
John Lowery (better known as John 5) was the guitarist for Marilyn Manson, and is now playing for Rob Zombie, however, his solo work, which includes this album "Songs For Sanity" is what truely shows John's remarkable talent for guitar. John shows why Manson and Zombie wanted him in their work with his industrial metal sounding songs like "Damaged" and "Gods and Monsters" but his real greatness lies surprisingly with Blue Grass guitar, as shown in "Fiddler's" and "Behind the Nut Love". John 5 is a amazing guitarist, who everyone shold check out.
A frustrating point in my band
My band is at a very frustrating point right now, I guess it's because we're all trying to express ourselves as musicians and finding it very hard to find our own style and sound that is unique to us. This is esspecialy hard because the band we're trying to start is of the progressive me....
