A frustrating point in my band

My band is at a very frustrating point right now, I guess it's because we're all trying to express ourselves as musicians and finding it very hard to find our own style and sound that is unique to us. This is esspecialy hard because the band we're trying to start is of the progressive metal genre. I have a feeling that our style will come in time after lots of practice, thinking, and listening to bands that inspire us.
Over all, I can't wait till we have everything together. I really want this band to be an expression of us all, but remain part of the thing that brought us together in the first place: KICK ASS HEAVY METAL!
