Meshuggah has always been a band that was built to be more complex, more heavy, and more mind-boggling than any other heavy band before it. I is a wonderful addition to any metal fan's catalogue because it is quite simply some of the heaviest music on the planet. Meshuggah fans will not be disappointed, as this song (a 21-minute song also titled "I") encompasses each part of Meshuggah's career in three parts. The first part is extreme thrash, with pulsating drum beats. The second part is avant-garde metal, which the boys from Sweden have been wonderful practitioners of, and the final part being their transition into prog-metal, using odd time signatures and polyrhythmic guitars and drums to achieve their main goal: to screw with your brain. The harsh vocals throughout the song are done wonderfully by Jens Kidman, and the downtuned 7-string (maybe 8-strings, I'm not sure) guitars make this onslaught of metal even more brutal. If not for even the musicianship, you should give this song a shot.
G-sides = B-sides. I bought this album when I was relatively young. It took me a while to figure that out, so I'm just gonna clear that up know. Anway sick album about 50/50 with remixes and original songs. The Wiseguys did a pretty dope remix of "19/2000" which came out really well. The original track "Ghost Train" is probably my favorite Gorillaz song. The lyrics are just chillin. I don't know if there's anyone out there besides Damon who knows what he's saying or anything. Totally rockin track though to complete a totally rockin CD.
