These are the times I hate most – stagnant periods. I did manage to unpack the studio which is a good thing. This weekend I am meeting with the drummer and bass player and start teaching them the material. If they are decent players they should pick it up rather quickly. We will also plan the singer auditions – there are 7 candidates and a few of them intrigue me and will make for some difficult decisions. I am also guilty of getting lazy when there are no deadlines. I should be working on the recording (only 1/3^rd of the album is recorded) which can be a tedious process. I would like a completed album ready by the time we hit the stage – sell to fans who would listen to the music and aren’t there just to stare at the hot singer (whoever that may be). I also wanted to film a music video (and I am sure editing that won’t be another arduous task) to put on Youtube, Myspace and other websites to promote the band (which still has no image and no singer). In between all of this there is a goal to be stage ready. In the past I had the tendency to over rehearse and delay live shows – my theory was (and still is) there will be someone in the crowd seeing you for the 1^st time and 1^st impressions are everything – if you aren’t at your best, don’t bother. Every show should be high energy and sonically amazing. You don’t want to be the “bar band” playing in the background while people drink. You want all eyes on you – you are the center of the universe for that short moment in time.
