This album, while toned down just a bit from their other discs, shows that Slipknot is WAY more than their masks. These guys have the talent and the skills behind them to make a kick-ass album that doesn't need to be "kill you mother, eat my dick" all the time. 10/10
Anything by BRMC is gonna be pretty killer. This is a classic sounding rock album. Not a "classic rock" album, though. It's a little differently sonically than the bands previous releases but it's downright rockin'. Chances are, if you think you've never heard a BRMC song, you're wrong. You probably didn't know it. I've seen a handful of TV shows in the past few months that have featured a BRMC song somewhere within an episode. Most recently the song "Fault Line" in the series BONES, which airs on Fox. This album is rife with acoustic guitars, harmonicas, and the occasional electric guitar which is mostly used to spice up the rhythm section. The album is a "life" album. It speaks of the ups and downs one may have. The more uptempo, upbeat songs like "Shuffle Your Feet" and "Ain’t No Easy Way" will most certainly get your foot tappin' and head bobbin'. Of all the songs on the album, I'd have to say that "Fault Line" is my favorite. It's so simple. Just an acoustic and a singer. BRMC draw influence from a few genres. Gospel... blues... britpop... But, all-in-all, this is a rock 'n' roll album. And a damn good one.
This is a great follow up to songs about Jane. Great first single, "Makes Me Wonder," plus awesome new songs including "Wake up Call," "Little of Your Time," and "Back at your Door."
