11700-and-change people 'like' this site...

...yet the forum still has only a handful (literally 5-ish) of people.

Has it come to this then? The point where our appreciation of something is stripped down to a mere button that we press and then move on, as if nothing had happened? Is that what liking something means nowadays? A short-lived entry in our FB profile?

I don't know about you, but I find that sad.

Don't blame FB, don;t blame our attention spans. This site still had decent traffic before the most recent overhaul. Something they changed just makes it harder to be here.

The previous incarnation was just not user friendly or at least Richey-friendly.  I lost interest.  I am still on the fence now.

i find nothing appealing about this site. i check in once a month or so to see if anything has changed just on the off chance.

but, seriously.... and my goal is not to disrespect Don or Jim or any mod or admin or whatever because they are aight dudes, as well so many of the users here....... but this is by far the ugliest and least user friendly guitar website on the entire interweb.

I never click that "Like" button on any site. I agree with IBZ - if all those people like this place so much, where are they? I admit I very rarely use the other parts of the site. Perhaps there is a whole bunch of interesting stuff for learners.

I'm not sure what happened. I don't think it was FB though. It doesn't take much to check into a site. It's not as stripped down as the site we were on for several years. You went to the forums, everything was listed, and you replied. Now everything is chopped up in to categories as opposed to simply listed with what subject type you've tagged to it. It felt like we had more control...AND WHERE'S THE DAMNED SPELL CHECK?????

maybe there's only a handfull using the forums and still a lot using the rest of the site.

personally, I stick mainly to the forums with occasional ventures in to the other areas.

I will admit though, I like things better before the last major overhaul they did last year.

Well, the last version looks more like a site from this decade than from the last one and I guess that counts for something. The site does have quite a bit of stuff other than the forum. I haven't extensively explored it since I'm long past being a beginner. Maybe people are indeed using the rest of the site. But still, out of so many thousands nobody stuck?

You wanna see a site from last century? Try: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/ArticleSearch?phrase=Football&contenttype=-1&show=20

Their sport forums have auto-censor and every thread and post is read by a human moderator. Anything the slightest bit defamatory or anything disrespectful of the Royal Family, is deleted. I only use the Rugby League section and sometimes I'll write a post then when I hit send, the warning comes up that it contains an unacceptable word, but doesn't tell you which word!!!

You can't use the word "roger", so if you wanted to mention a player named Roger you have to write Ro_ger or R0ger.

I wrote a post about one of the English referees who was arrested for punching out an 85-year-old woman and I got the "unacceptable word" message but I just couldn't work out which word it was, so I gave up and deleted it.

what does the 'and change' part of the title mean in this case? Like x amount of people and assorted coins like this site?

or is it x amount of people and a few fractions of people like this site?

Is it that the concept of change seems inclined to be favorable to the outcome of this site?

Obama?

mods?
