I'm getting my head blasted off this weekend! I'll probably need to learn sign language to use next week while I regain my hearing.

30 Ales even in half pints split between two days is probably above my capabilities, but I reckon I'll spend a decent amount of time at the beer stage.

So... Priest were in top form. Not the best stage setup or concert sound they've done but the setlist was good and they were in good spirits.
Rob's range is as good as ever, although that may not always be for the better. For some reason whatsoever, he chose to sing the whole Painkiller like a motherfriggin chipmunk! :/ If I wanted to be mean I'd say his pitch-correction gizzmo had a glitch.
Glenn was a bit out of shape imo. Several riffs/leads came through as very sloppy.
Did they replace K.K.? I swear he was there when I saw them on their reunion tour but today was someone definitely younger and standing out for it. Skill-wise he's up to the task of course, he just stands out from the rest of the band, both in age and stage attitude.
Highlight of the night: Breaking the Law. Rob didn't open his mouth at all; the crowd sang all of it!
And I just read this is their farewell tour. Glad I caught them, even if the sound system didn't do them justice.

As far as the ale tent is concerned, it was a big let-down. I went relatively early in the afternoon. After queuing for half an hour, despite an army of bartenders, they were already running out of ales. Fucking chaos is what it was. Much better off getting a guiness at the guiness truck or a lager from the other two bars or from the mobile guys and carts.

Good music overall however. But too many stages to give everyone a proper chance. I don't know most names on the lineup so I wanted to sample as many as possible, but the festival was designed more with those in mind who would probably stick to one stage and music type, rather than music n00bs like me. But with 3 stages and two beer stages and just 40-min sets, there was just too much going on at the same time at different places and I got tired of walking back and forth and still could only spend 10mins at each stage in order not to miss someone else. Even the beer stages had some good stuff. On the bright side, you don't have to wait for bands to set up, you just go elsewhere.

I have some footage that I'll sort out and upload eventually. Right now, food, shower and sleep. Or maybe just sleep.
Tomorrow I plan to spend more time at the beer stages, but we'll se how that works out.

Oh and it was Slash's birthday today, apparently. He played a lot of GnR. Frankly I don't know why anyone gives a shit about Axl. Myles Kennedy did a fine job singing the parts.

I saw U2 on Saturday. Didn't plan to go as I am not a huge fan and only really like a small handful of their songs.

I had a friend return from Korea for a visit and stay with me for the weekend and while at the Oriental Market his wife spoke with the owner, who was quite thrilled to speak with a fellow Korean. He'd mentioned that he heard tickets for the U2 concert were reduced on the day of the show to $50 due to the rain that afternoon. When my wife heard this she decided she wanted to go and Trevor and his wife felt the price was worth it and they all talked me into going.

The remaining tickets were sold out by the time we got there but we managed to talk a scalper down from $80 to $50 each for 4 tickets.

I must say it was worth the price... it was U2's last date on the 360 tour and they were making a big deal of it.

We got there just as U2 took the stage and stayed for 2 hours, hearing all the songs I'd hoped to. The sound was amazing and so was the light show. Also kinda cool how they had a song introduced by an astronaught from the International Space Station complete with mention of the city in his speech so it was obvious this was something recorded specifically for our city.

At the end of the night we actually left before the band was done to beat the crowd (80,000)since we'd all heard the songs we were hoping to hear anyway. I think they played for close to 2 1/2 hours because we could still hear them when we got our car.

Great show and if they ever do come back to Moncton, I'd be willing to pay the price to get seats in the bleachers instead of general admission next time.

A good mind is a terrible thing to taste

Great review of the Priest show. You're probably right - if that wasn't the Farewell, it probably should have been.

As far as U2 is concerned, i too am not much of a fan but i will say this, i've seen them 6 or 7 times (some work related, attendance-wise) and they were amazing, each and every time. Their song catalog is hard to beat and the crowd gives them such energy.
