Moving from electric to acoustic - any pointers?

Hi guys. I've been playing electric guitar for over 10 years, played in various metal bands etc. I've recently decided that I want to take acoustic guitar seriously. I'm wondering if anyone has any pointers as far as books, video lessons online, songs, etc, that will make me a better acoustic guitar player. When I get an acoustic in my hands, I'm really not completely sure what to do with it, which I think it a byproduct of spending so many years playing electric guitars with plenty of distortion. The techniques that work there don't really translate well to the acoustic realm. Thanks guys!
