Song Suggestions?

Hello,

I've been studying music for a while, but I have never taken guitar seriously since it wasn't my main instrument. I was a music minor during my undergrad years (just graduated) and studied voice, so I understand key signatures and I have some ear training under my belt. I also have two semesters of music theory and perception, giving me some visual understanding of where the notes are and how chords are formed, but my technique could use work. Typically when I play I will make up a chord progression or play a scale, but I thought adding a few songs to my repertoire would help. My music tastes are wide (love classic rock, southern rock, jazz, country, and even newer indie stuff). Any suggestions?

My taste is all 30 years out of date but, here goes:

Classic: Angie by the Stones

Southern: Sweet Home Alabama

Jazz: Autumn leaves

Country: Lost Highway

Indie: dunno what that means. "Indie" usually seems to be a euphemism for "not very good."

There are several popular 3 chord songs you could try to learn to play. the simpler the song the easier it is to learn. I've posted some simple song video lessons at www.songsforbeginners.com
