As I have mentioned on several occasions, pure technical practicing bores me to a sleep. Yet it is the only way to go forward.
So here is the solution I've come up with. It is kind of like hypnosis, except for the muscles.
I work on scales on the electric unplugged while watching a movie with headphones on. That way my brain is kept occupied and entertained with the movie, while my fingers are building agility and muscle memory for different fingering patterns.
As bonus, it helps my finger movement become detached from concious thought and effort.
Granted it does not guarantee my timing is also good and it most probably isn't. But I figure acquiring the finger motions is half the battle. I'll have to figure out some other way to train my picking consistency.
