What kind of acoustic strings do you prefer to play different kind of music?
I have just seen Gibson's acoustic 12-52 with phosphor/bronze wound.
And I don't know, what's the difference between nickel wounded and bronze/phosphor wounded strings?
And why are the second ones recommended by companies as Gibson or Taylor? (I saw a few commercials on TV).

And the second question: I have thought that acoustic guitar should have wounded 3rd (G) string, because
there are intonation problems with plain G strings. So why are the sets with plain 3rd string still sold?
I mean: why to use thinner strings (for acoustic guitar) when thicker ones just sounds better?

1. different strings don't meant you're playing different music

2. some guitars can't handle thicker strings. some guitarists can't handle thicker strings because of musical style or because of hand strength. bending and fast playing don't mesh well with heavy strings.

I personally use elixers on most of my acoustics [3 out of 4 guitars]. I use dean markleys on both my mandolin and 12 string.
