I can’t speak for everyone, but because there are so many talented guitar makers, I’d have a hard time picking my ‘life partner’ guitar. Not like you need to I guess, but I’d rather have a long term love-hate relationship with my guitar rather shifting from axe to axe.

I enjoy skinny skiing, heckling figure skaters, flamenco guitar, the blue stuff you put your combs in, good drummers, focaccia bread and coffee out of a french press

I like long-term relationships with a limited number of guitars rather than owning an ever-growing insane # of guitars of the same type...

I got a 12string washburn D46 that feels and sounds pretty nicely, despite not being a high-end guitar. Since we're on the acoustic board I'd say it is my favourite. Closely after it comes a certain spanish classical guitar that needs repair badly though.

I have a bevy of different acoustics. This is not to say there isn't a favorite. I'm a 12 string guy and simply love my Carvin C980. I also have a 1928 Stella Blues 12, purchased in a pawn shop in 1970 for $35. My first REAL guitar. It traveled with me all around the country and through Europe in the 70's. I didn't know what it was until the mid 80's, at which point I bought another guitar, (then another and another,) I still play it, but it never leaves the confines of my house any more, unless it's to take it out to the studio. No one else touches it for ANY reason.

There is a reason to have a multitude of different acoustics. Alternate tunings being one. (No time during a gig to retune a 12 string for one or two songs.) Different sounds is another, especially when you're recording. There are other reasons too, but they're a bit more esoteric.

I love my Martin D16RGT. It isn't top of the line, it isn't vintage, it just fits me. Even in this time of CNC machines stamping out dozens guitars a day, they still have differences that become apparent when you play them. Mine is like that.

I fall deeply in love with every Lowden I ever play.

Having said that, I have a cutaway Guild that has been bulletproof for me for years...and doesn't have that fragile Taylor-eque feel that worries me when I play many high-end guitars.

They're all great instruments...but how many would you dare to take camping?

I have really enjoyed my Dean Artist. I have played the Martins and Taks and wouldn't pass up one of those either.

I'm another Takamine fan, I have a TAN 45C with the Cool Tube preamp. It feels great, sounds amazing and the cool tube gives it a really warm live sound when you plug it in, I used it recently at my wedding and DI'd into the PA dry and it sounded great!

I like my $120 Ibanez V70. I sold my Martin D17GT 3 years ago. Don't get me wrong, the Martin sounded better, but I played my Ibanez a lot more (didn't want to ding up the nice one) and I just started preferring it over the Martin, and all other guitars, so my personal Ibanez is my favorite.
