well i want to cover a few song by a guy who is my original inspiration for music in general , but hes a local artist and i am having a hard time figuring out how to play his stuff. Is there any techniques i am not using or is it just having a super keen ear.

well if you have a cd from him and you can find a way to post a song here....i can try to tab it out for you. i tab songs out on a regular basis for my students and i have a pretty keen ear for it.....i could tab it out...scan it...and email you the tabs....

Knowing something about music theory and how chords and notes fit together can go a long way as well. It won't tell you everything but it can give you a good idea of where to look for that next note or chord. Scales, chord progression...things like that.

i use a sweet program called notepad to write my tabs.

i don't suppose you could post those songs so i can just download them.......i really hate signing up to new sites just to get a song or two. Mp3lightning.com will let you load up an mp3 direct...then they will mail a link to the email address you provide....from there you simply cut and paste the LINK here for easy downloading.....they WILL boot cover songs but originals are fine..........

You can't upload the CDA files from a CD for someone else to listen to.
It just doesn't work that way.

You'll have to convert the audio to something that can be sent. MP3 is most common.

Look up Audiograbber on Google.

Also,

If you are sending another persons music you should get their permission or at least transfer the files in a non public way.
A 3Meg MP3 file can easily be sent direct via email.
