(please, forgive me for my lack of english-related abilities)

Hi,
greetings everyone, im new to this place. I had a Larrivée D03r (dreadnought) recently, I sold it since it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I was trying to choose between Martin, Larrivée and Taylor...Now im heading more towards a Taylor. I like the feel and aesthetics of those 3 brands. About the Larrivée, heres the things that I weren't too fond with her: lack of bass, lack of resonance and projection. Now, Ive tried a lot of different guitars makes and sizes...I found out that Jumbos doesn't neccessarely equal bigger volume or bass and that some mini-bodied guitar can do greatly in this field. I play mostly fingerpicking and thumbpick (Emmanuel, Dykes, Mckee...). I don't care about the brand, shape or look. I just want the loudest guitar possible :OD! Any Advice?

Taylor is a very nice guitar. It has a woderful tone and good action. Martins have great tone too but in my opinion the action is not as good. I am an Ovation Celebrity man myself but if I were to switch I would go to a Taylor. But then again that is just my opinion.

the action?

i'm pretty sure that's adjustable...

i've played nice taylors and martins and larivees. i tend to like martins, but taylors are great too. martins can be a bit darker and more woody sounding. so that may be what you like, maybe not.

strings can really make or break a guitar. i had an extra set of daddario mediums, so i put them on the martin..my high end sounded crunchy, and the bass was sorta fake sounding. i'm gonna put them on my beater acoustic, and put the martin marquee mediums on the martin. they sound a whole lot better. so it's really hard to say a brand of an acoustic. there's a huge amount of difference in models, guitar to guitar of the same model, and strings to strings of the same guitar.

there's no other way than testing out all guitars in your price range, and picking your favorite

Hi,
stop keeping the secret going! Tell me what to get :O(! Just joking, thanks for your comments ;O). I know I need to try a lot more of them. I might go with a Taylor, but I'm not really sure yet... I'm from Canada and the 4 great brands we can get overhere are Boucher, Larrivée, Taylor, Martin... any other brand you think I should check. There will be an expo in Montreal in July. Luthiers from all around the continent will be there. Since I never tried those guitars... how are the "huss & daltons", the "collins", etc... Thanks for the input.

i think they might be more found in europe as they're an irish company...but Lowden is another great acoustic brand. damien rice plays a lowden, and it sounds great. kinda blend of martin and taylor. they sound great finger picked or strummed.

Get a Taylor. I have a 410CE. Great sound, feel - everything. The built-in expression pickup is the best, though I rarely plug in. Action can be set to your preference. It was the first thing I had done.

I too struggled with the Taylor/Martin dilemma. I think I made the right choice.

Yeah lowden's a re great, I live about half an hour away from the factory. We won't hold the fact that Damo plays them against the company, they can't help who plays them. They really are a great guitar, unfortunately they were a bit out of my price range when I was shopping around a while back. I got a breedlove, I would highly reccommend one to you if you get the cahnce to play one. Imo they are much better thanm all they taylors, martinsand larrivee that I have played. I couldn't be happier with my guitar than I am.
