I became aware a few years ago of the multi-instrumentalist Roy Smeck when I was watching a Steve Howe interview. In Howe's words, "I think of myself as a guitarist from the 20's, someone like Roy Smeck, who played all guitars." Not everything with strings is a guitar and not everything that grows from ground is hash. Watch Smeck tear the playhouse down on Ukelele in this vintage film.

Sorry everyone... Warner Schmoes, whoops, I mean Bros. has filed copyright claims for my tiny little 2 minute video of Roy Smeck shredding apart a Ukelele. Youtube was forced to comply with their tyrannical reign. That's okay.

This one is also pretty hip. It's such a drag though! He did this amazing vibrato trick where he would strike a chord and then spin the Uke out away from himself. I was like some sort of bizarre hummingbird sounding trick! I truly don't know how he did it.

seems so obscure and old that it wouldn't matter. can you really buy that at your local best buy/walmart or something? does it really generate much money?

i couldn't find a place to buy it online...just cds

anyways was the humming bird thing anything like part of the end of this video?
