So whenever i play some slash on the guitar, either people are like it or they bring up how "overrated" he is. I don't think he is overrated because well, i love the way he plays and he is one of my favorite guitarrists of all time, and one of the few i love that still plays. so i wanted to know your opinion bout this, if you think he is please do tell why.

I think Slash can be brilliant, but I've never seen him back it up live.

I've seen him in GnR...Snakepit...and Velvet Revolver at various times, and the best I've seen him was "not bad". On the other hand, I consider a lot of his studio work to be very impressive indeed...certainly "November Rain", as well as "Double Talkin' Jive" and even some of his parts in "Paradise City" were a step above most Joe Perry disciple efforts.

(Note: I'm a lifelong Aerosmith fan...born about the time they got together. A Joe Perry disciple is not a bad thing to me.)

I'm awaiting the next VR CD very anxiously, as well as their tour with AiC later this year. Maybe I'll finally catch him when he's "on".

I think his studio playing is pretty hip. When I was working as a 2nd engineer there were rumours circulating about how Slash took 301 takes to get a keeper for the intro to "Sweet Child o' Mine". If it's in fact true then I say kudos to a fierce work ethic.

I enjoy skinny skiing, heckling figure skaters, flamenco guitar, the blue stuff you put your combs in, good drummers, focaccia bread and coffee out of a french press

I'm not a huge Slash fan but you have to give props when due. I was a college freshman when Appetitie for Destruction came out and that was a kick-ass album. Some great riffs/solos in Paradise City. I'm a big Joe Perry fan as well and you can see some comparisons in Slash. The guys got talent that's for sure.......and he's quite good looking too.

He's not overrated. He's one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Don't let it get to you, anyone who calls him overrated doesn't know anything.

Unapologizing, brash, loud, fast, drunk, and yes, a great player.

..And anyone who can pull off Chuck Taylors with a top hat is damn cool.

I think like all great artists he is somewhat overrated. I don't necessarily like his personality but he is an excellent player and musician.

no more than jimi ;)

Try this: play one of slash's not as well known solos and don't tell them that it's him. See what the reaction is
