I like some of their music. They do have their good moments in music.

"Undone" is probably one of my favorites.

I like some Korn stuff but I cant listen to their cover of "One". It just isn't right and I have been told over and over by Korn fans that Korn played it better than Metallica. I just don't agree.

I have a cool Korn T-Shirt tho...

I know their faces, I know their signature models, I know they took part in an episode of "Monk". I've no idea what they sound like.

My kids used to listen, so I got to listen by proxy. Wasn't all that fond of their stuff as they don't let anything breathe! Just not my style. Though I did find it interesting to go into my kids room and find, underneath the Korn CDs, the Kitty CDs, and the Ramstein CDs, other music... Zep, Floyd, AC/DC, etc... Was really nice to know that I didn't fail at imparting some musical taste to my young ones. Now I hear the good stuff more than I used to.

From a technical standpoint, they've definitely improved as players. From a musical standpoint, however, it feels like they've lost the will to play and it's simply about money and longevity at this point. Like muddling through a work day just because it's job security.

As an aspiring musician just getting started as they were coming up, I was influenced a bit by them. It seemed that they were very creative in finding the right atmosphere and ambiance for a particular song. I read countless stories of equipment and setup experiments just to produce the smallest odd sound. It seemed so insignificant, but leave it out of the track and you notice immediately.

And the bass... I know many will flame him to eternity for his over usage of slap and horrible EQ settings ("Take the mids and just turn that s**t off!"; resulting in the signature "clicky" sound that accompanies most drum rhythms as opposed to following a guitarist's flow), but Fieldy was extremely instrumental in defining the band's signature sound.

Additionally, I've found their live shows to be fairly amazing, though lacking a bit since the departure of Brian "Head" Welch from guitars.

But then again, I think Limp Bizkit is better!

....just kidding. Once upon a time I liked nu-metal. That day has long gone.

i've heard an interesting bit or two from them. i just don't really care for tuning THAT low. it loses clarity big time. and ends up sounding waaaaay muddy. which is, i suppose, the sound they are going for ....mud...pluas there's an overly dependant use and need for effects. kinda makes some of their stuff sound almost robotic in nature to me...but they are unique in the sounds they create. and that's says something. just not my cup of tea in particular....

That's probably the Jonathan Davis influence. He's a bit twisted in the head.
