Hey, I am a Bassist/Rhythm Guitarist...mostly Bassist, and I am looking for a band to join in the North East San Antonio, Texas area...I am 16 years old, and i attend "Lady Bird" Johnson High School, I am new to the area. I just moved here from New Jersey. I wanted to join a band who is really serious about a career in the music industry. I am listening, play, and watching to music non-stop, so i have a variety of knowledge in different styles...i have only been playing for about 3 years, but I'm not that good (compared to other people), but there is always room for improvement. In the last 2 weeks I have been practicing loads of different styles and learned lots of parts to different songs. I play heavy metal kind of music most of the time, but am open to almost anything. My top influences are Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Dream Theater, Disturbed, and Skillet. Along with Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Very little Santana. So Contact me by e-mail if your interested. My e-mail is Music49@live.com Hope to here from some one soon

I grew up in NJ. NJ to San Antonio. That's quite a move. From dirtbags and guidos to cowboy hats.

Heck I would take the money, and open a series of concert venues across the country! That way I'd be guaranteed a gig!

hm.......maybe you could post signs around your school saying that you're looking to join a band? You could also try craigslist, there's usually a few people there looking for other musicians.

Craigslist is by far the best resource out there for networking with other musicians. Although I've met some weirdos on it, its worked pretty well for me.

Try your school. In high school/college, lots of people play and want to play.

Another thing you could do is take lessons. My teachers have always introduced me to some of his other students to jam. Nobody knows your 'level' better than he/she.

Oh man I totally would join with you, but I'm in NW San Antonio! Damn that's a long drive (and I know because I work on the NE side). Seriously though, San Antonio is a HUGE metal city..I was in a bunch of metal bands when I was younger, but eventually you start to outgrow it...and "keep San Antonio METAL!" turns into "Can we have some variety, please?" There's only so much downtuned guitars, blast beats and guttural "singing" you can take from a city before you seriously want to move. Craigslist has tonnnss of bands like this trying to form.

Wow this is an old post.

I'm actually more amazed that a 16-year old Joseph Gibson CAN'T find anyone in VA to play Metal! What do the people at your High School play Joseph? BTW, welcome to g.com and I hope you find some people to jam with.

(Oh No! I just had a dreadful thought: You don't go to High School Musical High School, do you, Joseph?)

Omg I would massacre a whole coop of chickens before I saw another one of those movies.

(I only refrence to chickens as my Messiah does not partake in the delectible consumption or extreme slaughter of them and I must try my best to follow)

dude i know ur problem- i live in michigan and there are a few kids to jam with but they're not hungry if u know what i mean, and being a bassist like you i know things get dull, like playing a guitar for an hour is one thing but a bass another, dont get me wrong i love to play, but if ur playing guitar you can work on solos or writting, you can write on bass but not the whole song, but the best thing to do is just to play with songs, if u can find any with a cool enought bass part, which there are a lot of if u can find them- try "burnin for you" by BOC or "ten years gone" by zepp- their both fun parts that arent are prty chill, or stuff by alice in chains
