I've come to thinking how popular The Offspring is... Somehow not very mainstream, but still think they're very popular in some way.
Myself, i don't care so much for their music, though there's three songs they've made that i like... Pretty Fly (for a white guy), Hammerhead & Hit That.
I had almost forgot about them till i saw an ad in tv for "Silent Library" yesterday.
These are also three pretty cool (and funny) videos too. What do you think?

I absolutely love The Offspring, except for 2 of the 3 songs you mentioned lol. I remember when Smash came out back in '94 or '95, and it just blew me away. I've been a fan ever since.

Is popular, or was popular? I liked them back in the 1990's. Are they still together?

It's really hard for me to dig on a band whose career is built on a string of silly novelty songs. The musicianship isn't there. At least bands like the Ramones had attitude. And, outside of a few bands like Social D, I detest So Cal music. One monster suburb of spoiled brats.

Sorry to chime in with such venom, but the Offspring are one of the few bands that *really* turn my stomach.

"It's really hard for me to dig on a band whose career is built on a string of silly novelty songs." -Somehow i get what you're saying ther, but on the other hand. Sometimes it can sound really fine, and it sometimes might make chill, listening to a song that's about practically nothin' at all. Though i somehow find it creative.

There two ways to make creative music, one serious hell of work on a song that really is about something (might even get epic). This is still the music i prefer the most. And then theres the more laid back: let's find a good melodi, maybe something very catchy, and then we make progress with it and find some lyrics that fit in.

I applaud you attempt to defend the Offspring, but I think there is a big difference between bands doing cool, laid back music (early Beatles, Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd) and these suburban sound makers.
