Today, I heard some stuff about the kid (Spencer Elden) on the cover of Nirvana's Nevermind.
If you read the article, Spencer says that he wishes kids would start real bands, like they did in the 90's, instead of playing Rock Band or Guitar Hero, like they do now.
What do you think??
I think that music would be much better today if more kids started rock bands.

I think it would suck because there would be a wave of crappy bands started by crappy guitar hero players.

But some of those crappy bands would evolve into good bands.

That would be cool if the grunge scene came back.

I liked some bands from that era. Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Faith no More, Fishbone, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.

Speaking strictly as a guitarist though, I didn't like Nirvana because the guitar wasn't interesting. I know some people like the same 3 and 4 chords over and over, but to me it can get boring without at least *something* musical to spice it up. An interesting chord change, or a short fill, or anything like that.

I'm glad the era is over and *good* guitar music is coming back to a degree, but the era did leave us some pretty cool songs, and yes, even Nirvana had a few ;)

I think nirvana wasn't technically interesting because they had a technical weak spot with kurt cobain. Although he wrote amazing songs, most of the people on this forum could have outplayed him technically.

Yeah I think it'd be cool if there could at least be a bigger rock scene going on now.

Yeah, I agree you know I decided to write down some bands and guitarist during school some of the biggest bands I asked about 20 people none of them except for about 2 or 3 had ever heard of most of the biggest bands a few Lynard Skynard, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Pantera, And AC/DC. And alot more. All it is now is rap I'm sorry but they don't do anything they talk in there music and if you listen ( My mom likes that kind of music and gets mad when I say this stuff but ) The bass if there is one and the drums if there is one or keyboard all alike it all repeats and I feel bad for whoever plays it. Does anybody agree? I mean todays popular music is BORING!

you said it! I live in Washington State, where a lot of the grunge bands formed, and even here it's rare that I find someone my age who appreciates that type of music.

Hmmm, show up on an album cover in the buff and underwater, and suddenly you're an expert on rock bands!

Awesome!
