Tony's always been amazing, it's kind of sad how a musician of his calibre seems to be 'overlooked'. I mean, really, if he got paid by the note, he'd own Brazil by now... Killer arranger/composer and player. His keys work is beter than his guitar playing, but he's a bloody freak on guitar too...

I think the guy's unreal. Thoughts?

Back when instrumental musicians still made videos! Cool hair, and even cooler playing! It's Malmsteenish, but kinda "the next level"...

King's Cup off of Maximum Security... Awesome, although maybe a bit squeaky... Still, I can't play it, so it's all good.

He's a great mullti-talented musician. He took Mike K's place in Vai's touring band (the dude with the Cat In The Hat top hat) who also played really mean co-lead guitar and keys. Tony is a great, humble, not well known musician, despite his accomplishments. Quite the drag...

I enjoy skinny skiing, heckling figure skaters, flamenco guitar, the blue stuff you put your combs in, good drummers, focaccia bread and coffee out of a french press

Mike Keneally is another one who's just too damn good. Vai's got great taste in "sidemen", eh? High standards, that's for sure!

How many Guitarists does it take to Screw in a lightbulb? Ten. One to do it, and nine others to sit at the back of the room with their arms crossed and tal about how they could do it better.

I got a chance to see Tony MacAlpine when he was a part of Steve Vai's band. Bill Sheehan looks over to Tony mac and make a motion for him to start sweeping, then Tony mac unleashes. He starts effortlessly sweeps all over the neck. Hu's got monstor chops, i think in general he's way underrated. He's kinda like an 'in the know' artists.

I would have to agree with dcunning - I have only seen Tony with Vai and he is a great player - a bit of a different personality then Keneally but just as talented. To be able to handle the keyboard duties alone for Vai would be no small feat, but then to be able to go note for note with him on the guitar is mind blowing. Mike Keneally is now playing keyboards and guitar for the Dethklok live band - I never saw that coming but he does make it work musically. These are 2 examples of guys who don't get their due - I am sure there are many others. Then to flip on the radio or MTV and see all these hack players with platinum sales - it is upsetting!
