Lately for some reason I've been leaning towards the darker side of music, and I was wondering what you guys thought was some seriously heavy music.

I don't want drudgy, slow, nasty heavy...I want aggressive make-me-want-to-invade-small-countries heavy. Think Godsmack "Awake", or the new Ozzy song that's all over the radio.

Here's the ones I like:

Godsmack
Disturbed
Black Label Society

Meshuggah. You gotta admit that a band's sound can get pretty heavy with 8 string guitars and blasting drums, not to mention the brutal vocals.

I enjoy skinny skiing, heckling figure skaters, flamenco guitar, the blue stuff you put your combs in, good drummers, focaccia bread and coffee out of a french press

I suggest you try any of the following:-
Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Machine Head, Dragonforce, 3 Inches of Blood.
If you haven't heard it, you should try listening to some back catalog stuff from Black Sabbath, Pantera, Slayer, Metallica.

Whenever my younger brother got in a fowl mood and wanted mood music for the occasion he would always throw on "Sacrifist" by Praxis (featuring Buckethead). My pick was always "Sreetcleaner" by Godflesh.

Necrophagist, or the Faceless. Both of 'em are my favorite metal bands, and also some of the heaviest stuff I've listened to. (you can't go wrong with Slayer either)
