I liked Slayer many, many years ago before they disappeared up their own arses.

Your the third person today I've seen has mentioned the new album, for me its not going to happen as my Slayer kick lasted for a short while in the late 80's.

Sadly the novelty became quite thin and happened very quickly. I think my attention span lasted as long as Raining Blood actually?

But to each his own bud and good to see the old buggers still kicking ass.

I like the new slayer. it def has a good Seasons vibe to it. Lombardo rocks the kit in a big way.

....but EVERYTHING falls short against the upcoming Devin Townsend "Addicted." It's phenomenal.

Slayer, meh, not much soul to them. Heavy music doesn't have to be about death and anhiilation for me to listen to it. Slayer is about as far the opposite as I have ever listened to, and they aren't that impressive to me. To me, any band that kicks another band off their tour for not being metal enough is retarted. That is about the most opposite thing I have ever heard from a metal "scene." What are they metal metro sexual? I just don't get it. It's pretty bad when the metal scene starts having its snobs.

what do they consider "not metal enough"?

are we talking about a band like Hootie and The Blowfish opening for Slayer, or are we talking Machine Head?

If it was Hootie, I can definately understand the "not metal enough" excuse... thos guys would be eaten alive by a crowd of rabid Slayer fans. LOL

a group like Machine Head or some other group that has loud guitars chugging low register riffs and a german sheppard for a vocalist should not be accused of not being metal enough.

last time I'd heard Killswitch Engage, they were quite metallic sounding to me... someone is just being picky I think.

Kerry King has a reputation of sturring up shit anyway... I've noticed he and Dave Mustaine tend to bicker a lot over the years too. But I think that's simply because they are so much alike... except that Dave tends to ver react to somebody else's opinions while Kerry tends to just piss people off.

I've never been a huge Slayer fan anyway though. They've got a few songs that I still listen to like South Of Heaven or Seasons In The Abyss; but I don't own any of their cd's.

Well, I like Stone Sour, and a few other Metal head bands, but a lot of it is becoming kind of silly to me. The whole RAAAAAARRGGHH! We're more metal than you routine. It reminds me of all the old timers in the south, sayin' "Turn off that Devil music!!!" Irony at its finest. Now the metal heads are getting older, and their saying, "Turn off that hippy music!"

lol

you know, that makes perfect sense... I mean a lot of early metal bands were a reaction to the "hippy music" of the day. Ozzy had said that during the early days of Black Sabbath (or just before Black Sabbath), he couldn't relate to a lot of the flower child music of the day.
