So i was extremely excited this weekend to finally see Steve Swallow live while he was playing with John Scofield and Bill Stewart. Swallow is one of my favorite bass players, very polished technically and amazing melodic ideas. Mostly he plays jazz with an electric. Check him out.

I really grooved on the Scofield video! Swallow definitely is a sick, seasoned musician. I think my favorite bassist of all time, and this may not be fair to those who don't get into upright, is Edgar Meyer. There's a live disk called "Music for Two" by he and Bela Fleck that rips senseless. Very cool avante-garde-grass with technically proficient classical chops.

I enjoy skinny skiing, heckling figure skaters, flamenco guitar, the blue stuff you put your combs in, good drummers, focaccia bread and coffee out of a french press

Defiantly man. Meyer does rip senseless. He is probably the best upright player currently living, not to mention coolest. He has a low C extension on his E string and his fretboard is also extended, practically reaching the bridge. The amazing part is how precisely he can play in the entirety of his register.
