I'm here asking which songs would be good to learn.

Now I know it would be hard to describe my skill level, but imagine the level you were at after a year and a half of playing.

I would enjoy any recommendations you have. Please feel free to post any songs that you enjoyed learning as a beginner.

But please keep in mind these songs are also meant to challenge the guitar player and push him or her to improve their skill level.

Thank you guys.

Hmmmm... It was a different world when I was learning.

Probably my first BIG step was rewriting/arranging Classical Gas for 12 string. Which led me to doing the same thing for other stuff that people would say couldn't be played on a 12 string alone.

Find the songs YOU like, as that's your best bet. My favorites were Emerson, Lake & Palmer for challenging stuff. Lots of good riffs and changes. They also wrote the three main songs of my "Bed The Babe" set. From The Beginning, Still You Turn Me On and Ces't La Vie. Old songs, but they still get the women swooning. (If you do them right of course. The songs I mean.)

I like most "rock" styles. I like alot of Pearl Jam, but its still a little too much for me.
Kings of Leon is another good band I enjoy and can a little of.

I can do some simple riffs, like Beatle's 'Day Tripper'

But I'd like hearing from you guys, new artist new songs. Its all good to me.

And remember this forum can be open to all beginners.
Feel free to share your beginning learning experiences with songs you enjoyed while progressing.

If you want to work on your rhythm guitar, I highly suggest Sweet Jane by The Velvet Underground and Bohemian Like You by The Dandy Warhols.

For lead guitar, try No Rain by Blind Melon and Michael by Franz Ferdinand.

Those should be challenging but quite attainable, as well as fun to play.

Learn Blackbird by the Beatles. It's a great sounding song that I thought was easy to learn and it is impressive to hear.
