I got somethin' big for ya right here!

Maybe it's because nothing "big" has happened in a while? Or is it because we're becoming desensitized with all the crap that happens on a daily basis? Too much information is making us all complacent about too many things. We tend to look at a lot of happenings as usual instead of unusual as we hear about them all the time. Just like a simple murder. It pretty much needs to happen next door to get your attention any more.

I have to spray the trees for bagworms. But first I need to go back to bed because I usually don't knock off till 5am, but that's the only thing I can think of. I live a life of intrigue.

I had cutworms in my garden for the first time ever! Turned to biological warfare to eliminate them, but they did a lot of damage before then. You're not the only one with intrigue in your life! Now I've got bunny problems!

I had this weed that has very painful stems and leaves grow in a corner of my back year lawn. I tried every sort of weed killer and nothing worked. I dug them up and they would just grow back. I finally used roundup and ended up killing everything in a 6 foot radius, including the grass. I caught my not-very-nice neighbor giving a guided tour of my desolate patch of back yard to some guests of his. I planted new grass and the grass has mostly returned.......but so have the painful weed.

I really hate painful stems in my weed too. The seeds can be a pain when they pop in your eye also.

as far as " something big " you never know. there is alot going on right now, but like xark said, you hear so much that you tend to get used to it. one thing to also keep in mind is that years ago, there was no internet, no cell phones, no satellite communications, no cnn, ect. you hear about every thing that happens now whether it is big or small. no doubt there is alot going on in the world right now, both good and bad, but sometimes i think it only seems like it has increased because you hear so much. when something happened 50 years ago, you might not have heard every little detail a hundred times like you do now.

dcunning, ever considered a patio? pour a concrete slab over the area where your problem weed is growing, and it would make a nice place for a grill, picnic table, ect.

..............just a thought.

with my luck, it would grow through the concrete.

That would be nice, but the weeks are too far aout back. But I do need a patio. My concrete slabs have settled and water pools against the house during a strong rain. And we've been having alot of it lately. If you've seen the news last night, we got gusts of up to 100 mph and two people died from a fallen tree. It made national news. I was busy at work troubleshooting a program and all the power went out in my office. It was so bad out, visibility was down to about 30 feet and nobody dared leave the building.

I agree with Xark, as a whole we've become desensitized. Around-the-clock news and information from all over the world ends up becoming more information than the average person can process. It takes something really big to get our attention. One person getting shot somewhere in Podunk, Ohio isn't news, unless you happen to be the Podunkian who got shot.

Xark is right. We are desensitized. 50 or so years ago Americans were all on edge because of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Everyone was scared. Now, people would probably think its a hoax. Look at all the nuclear testing going on in Asia. We (America) are a prime target for any rogue nation but are we worried? Naaahhh...
