Its not what you play it's the way that you say it. Ive been around a while and I have said in the past that its not about the credibility of musicianship its about being a good communicator. the thing is you shouldn't take it too seriously its just a way to police the site, Ive reared up in the past and given out some abuse and Ive been hammered on the web cred front, but I dont see it as a way to judge somebodies guitar playing its just a way to implement control to the people that see it as important, but to me its just a way to acknowledge somebodies input.

I agree with you. I don't put a lot of faith into it. I appreciate all the cred everyone has given me. I joke a lot but if I can I try to give what ever advice I can. I guess that's what it's all about :)

Webcreds are nothing more than an indicator that you've posted on here a lot, and people like what you've said, or that they like you in general. Anybody who thinks webcreds are an indication, (or should be an indication), of how guitar savvy you are, are just fooling themselves. It's just a way for your peers to show approval, or disapproval of your conduct and what you have to say here. The people who are really good don't need webcreds to tell them that. They're good because their fingers are on a fretboard more than they're on a keyboard.

i agree with everybody on everything, because i am so nice...........now gimmie creds.........LOL

you guys are right. creds are an indicator, and thats fine. it is handy to help keep track. i dont put too much faith in them or make it my goal in life to run up my numbers, but its nice to know that people dont just think you are an asshole. unless you are one, of course, which fortunately we dont seem to have much trouble with here.

As I close in on a thousand web creds I am disappointed to discover that it doesn't mean I'm a great guitar player. I guess I will have spend less time here and more time practicing. Damn!

See what I mean? It's too easy to start a cred-avalanche thread.

If cred is any indicator of anything it is this: Soon the people with the most cred will be the people with the highest number of useless posts. Many forums have cred systems that rate member contribution. Ours here will be the first to measure lack of better things to do, like practice guitar...

Yeah, yeah I know I got a high figure too, but I've been here since forever and I have videos and blogs and it used to mean something. Now, if you look in all the threads for the posts with the highest cred and you'll see they are mostly token posts.

In that sense, I don't want anyone to +cred me just for the sake of credding... I don't return such "favours".

There I go, complaining again... =P

You just need to post more. That's all. Just be friendly with people. This site is as much about socializing as it is guitar playing. It's that way with everything in life. A person can be the best guitar player in the world, but if they're always on the attack, (I'm not saying you are, it's just an example), then nobody will want to work with them, no matter how good they are. An example...This guy is a legend, would you give him a webcred?
