Ok it's been a long day, you go home and can't wait to shake off the day and grab your favorite axe. Some of you only have one guitar and you reach for it but some of you have a choice, Which guitar do you reach for first or most often. Me, I reach for my Gretsch 5022 Acoustic/Electric, it sounds great, plays great, and it is orange.

If I'm in the studio [bottom floor of my house] I go for the V. If I'm upstairs in the living room, it's the blueshawk. I love my gibsons ;)

It's all in my mood at the time..

Acoustic mood.. My Cruz

Blues mood .. National.

electric mood either the 335 or the 345..

This becomes moot if something is already out and in the stand though. :-)

I try to play all my guitars, so I rotate them. Recently, I have been playing my Les Paul, but now I'm playing my RR V

I'm playing the strat that I just built. I can't get over how well that guitar turned out. When I just want to grab a guitar and play right then and there, when I don't feel like waiting for my amp to warm up, I reach for my Ovation. I just have to wear a strap, but that's no problem.

When I'm feeling John Denvery, it's the El-Cheapo Rogue acoustic-electric dreadnought.

'Cuz it's all I got, hehe...

(It's really not too bad.)

Electric-my new Jackson Dinky. Feels great, plays great, sounds great.

well, since I'm an ibanez freak, I reach for my trusty old RG320FM. It has some major changes...Evolution pickups, Edge Pro trem (replacing the Edge Pro 2; MASSIVE improvement) and even my mom who knows nothing about guitars says it sounds smoother than any other one I own. It is in dire need of a proper set-up, and i just don't have time anymore to do it myself. Once that's done it'll be back to incredible condition. I like this guitar so much, I've considered buying the blue version and hot-rodding it.

While it's being repaired, I'll reach for my other favorite Ibanez, the RT650 I made into a "strat". That thing is just killer!

No question. Just for playing at home it's my Carvin 980-12. If I'm going into the studio it's my 1928 Stella Blues 12 string.

If I am walking around the house it's my Talman acoustic/electric, because it's light and skinny, and I can manuver it around the corners really well, in case I am taking it outside. If I am in the Rock On Dude, mode, I grab my SZ320. Great thread.

I reach for my electric most of the time. Even more often I reach for my PC's power-on button. :/

I treat my electrics like an over-protective Dad protects his foxy 16 yr old .... in a roomful of guitar players. :-) They stay in their cases unless I have more than 20 minutes to practice (downstairs).

I have a Seagull acoustic that I picked-up a few years ago that sits (yes, in a stand) in a space between the kitchen and the living-room. This keeps-it handy for those quick, stolen-moments of practice. I don't have to plug-in... no tubes to warm-up ... and I don't worry about anyone knocking it over.

If it wasn't for this strategically-located acoustic ... my practice-time would suffer greatly. Besides, I think the hard-work of an acoustic has really strengthened my hands ......

Well, I am a computer tech by trade so most of the time I am wanting to get some stress out so I reach for my 58 reissue V with an mt-2 Keely and peel the paint of the walls. (V is not stock)

My Telecaster if I'm in a 6 string mood or my P bass if I want to plunk around, maybe playing to some music on iTunes just for kicks (I'm getting into figuring out bass lines from '60s bands and their not only solid, but diverse). I'm easy to please.

On the same train of thought...if electric, do you plug-in an amp, a "bassman" like device, or something like Vox's Amplug with headphones? As dumb as it sounds, I sometimes just strum or pick without anything other than the guitar. I don't own an acoustic, so I have to go with a solid body. Doesn't sound exactly professional, but it's OK for sitting in my house and zoning out in my own little music world.
