With a $2000 budget alot of guitars open up. Some Martins, Taylors, Guilds, and as you mentioned Gibsons, plus many others. Alot of people out here are going to have strong preferences but you are in a great position. What you need are a list of guitar stores so you can get a feel for the different options available and there are a lot of them. Go, start playing everything on the wall and don't stop until you find the one that says "We belong together" You are in for some fun enjoy and let us know what you get.

If that's your price limit, you need to go to an acoustic guitar store. If you're spending more than $500 on an acoustic, you want to play it before you buy it!

There are lots of acoustics in that price range. Taylor makes some nice guitars. Gibson, as mentioned, is also a good choice. Martin is another and I could go on, but the point here is YOU need to go out and look and pick one up and play it and consider if it's worth what they want.

A piece of advice when trying them out. Don't listen to the salesman, they will tell you anything to get you to buy. If you can, while you are trying them, don't take any money or credit card with you. Do your research, and take a friend sometime it takes another person to see the bs they dish out. ( Do I sound bitter?) :o)

Definitely check out Maton. They're made in Australia, so they may be difficult to find. Unless you are in Oz, of course...

i would try a martin or takamine, both really nice, martin is in my opinion the most top quality acoustic you can buy, if you want acoustic electric that can vary
