well i was in guitar center the other day just getting a pack of strings then i noticed the highway one for only $430 i asked the guy why its so cheap he said they were being discontinued then when i got home i looked on the Internet and every were i looked the price was $750 well any way i bought it because i thought it was a good deal any body know why its being discontinued

Out with the old and in with the new, I would guess.

You can pick up a lot of sweet gear this way. I got my Gibson SG for under 450 USD because it was a discontinued series. I could not be happier.

No. The one I have is an SG Special, but it is the discontinued platinum color scheme. All of my hardware is brushed steel and the tone & volume knobs, the toggle switch end, and pickups are silver colored. They made the bodies in 3 colors: black, platinum, and red/orange (this is the one I have). I think Gibson also made a Les Paul studio in platinum.

Man did you get lucky I was just at sweetwater music playing a highway one that I was dieing to buy but just couldnt right now 740USD is what that one was bringin in..Hope your enjoyin your new investment..

There's a billion other strats that can replace the Highway 1. I heard that Kenny Wayne Shepherd is getting a sgnature strat. They should come out with a Billy Corgan strat, too :)

But the Highway 1 was the cheapest American-made strat, so I guess that will be missed.

ahhh...sad. I bought my highway 1 as soon as they came out - so its different from what they're selling now - i think old ones actually sound better than new ones - possibly because of pickups?

I'll be really sad if they discotinue them. they are really really nice guitars. i hope not.
