I have been playing this part for many years with the band. I know it does not sound that good without the chord progression behind it. I have had so many people ask me to teach this to them and I have taught it to many people. If anyone is interested I will create a blog.

i love that riff, however i have made very little progress in my quest to master the slide. to me that is one of the most instantly recognizable riffs in rock history.

Not bad man. Just work on getting the intonation just right and maybe smoothing it out a bit and you'll have it nailed.

That's why I don't like glass slides.

You can put it in an educational blog alright. It won't be the first blog of someone teaching a song. But you are going to have to play it more clearly than that.

Believe it or not it is a lot easier to play with the chord progression. I usually dont use a pick. I play it with my thumb and it is a lot smoother.

No...in the original song, he tuned his B string down to G and played the line on both strings at the same time. That unison strings thing gave it that ethereal chorus-type effect on the original track.

Shane I respectfully disagree. I have read many interviews with Gary Rossington and he said he used standard tuning. I dont know about him but I never use the B string.
