"Working Man" by Rush. Great, semi-simple tune.

Sweet Leaf? I don't know what you consider "hard stuff" to play.

Okay, scratch the hard stuff out. i mean nothing that would sound awkward without a bassist or vocal, like moby dick or working man.

Key to the Highway if you like blues stuff. You can throw in melody with a few passing chords.

it's probably easier to find a bass player than to find a song that sounds good without one.

betterthanthou says:

"it's probably easier to find a bass player than to find a song that sounds good without one."

He says this only because he didn't say it required a SANE bass player -- who is not socially retarted. That'd take some time....

Just sayin' .........

make up your own riffs

start with a simple two note riff with repetitive timing and then when it's cruising, drop a note here or there... add in a note or a hold... go to half time... turn them into power chords... go down a string... etc

you should develop your own sounds from the beginning - and can have great jams with a drummer...

the benefit of this is that you really learn to listen to each other... one person makes a slight change, the other follows... it will help your communication skills massively and sound better than anything else because you don't have the original to compare it too...

when i jam with anyone, i always just start playing and see what happens... that's jamming
