Does anyone remember this magazine? It was awesome. It practically taught me how to play guitar. I bought the songbooks and everything. I have stacks of them somewhere. What happened to that mag?

Me too. It became "Guitar" and then "Guitarone" and now it's toast. Amalgamated with guitarworld for just "guitarworld". Didn't sell very well I guess...

Have them since 2006, got the 12 issues order from amazon.com and now it turns to guitarworld.
Compile just a few segments from guitarone.
But not good enough

That was my fave guitar mag all the way to its death. I still miss it, as the tabs and the writing were class o' the field.

I had a subscription until about '92 and it was considered by everyone I knew to be the ultimate authority on tabs. Guitar School had tabs in it too but they were not as good as the tabs in GFTPM. The articles were also good. I wonder what happened. I may have to do some research.

My Father had a store in New York back in the 80's and I collected everyone of them. I miss that mag very much! I wish I still had all the issues. That mag beat anything out there today although I do pick up a Guitar World once and awhile.

I have tons of GFPM in boxes somewhere. Years and years of it. I started with the first issues back in the 80's. Good stuff. I remember impatiently waiting every month for the new one to come out.

I had a subscription back in the 80s too. I saw a reprint last year or so - it had Eddie Van Halen on the cover. I had to buy it - I do wish they'd bring it back.
