I guess this hits particularly close to home because I own one. Back in '74, Gibson moved its operations down to Nashville but some of the cats stayed behind and started the Heritage Guitar Company. They've continued to build guitars with the same care that the Gibson of old used to show. It's a shame that they're selling the company.

I enjoy skinny skiing, heckling figure skaters, flamenco guitar, the blue stuff you put your combs in, good drummers, focaccia bread and coffee out of a french press

Selling the company is not always a bad thing. If Fender had not sold to CBS there probably would NOT be a Fender today. Same with Gibson, Same with Harley and AMF, etc.

"Closing its doors?" is kind of a misleading statement.

According to the link you posted.

"Heritage has not closed its doors indefinitely. During the last week there have been many meetings to deal with how to structure the company to deal with its large amount of backorders."

Clearly there is money on the table and a restructuring is in the works but "closing" seems a bit panicky.

I'd miss 'em if they folded, but not much.

I was working at Grandma's Music here in NM when the Heritage sales rep came in. He left us guitar guys a couple of samples while he took the owner to lunch. I'd always been curious about the brand, so I dove in pretty fast.

YEEESH.

Bad binding work, chintzy fretwork, QC unacceptable on Ibanez Artcores. Hideous stuff.

The guy looked confused and actually hurt when he came up and asked our opinions later...and we showed the boss why. Never heard from 'em after that.

I've played them at NAMM shows and other places, and they're usuall great instruments...but they make me wish for the Gibson equivalent.
