Have you ever played so long that you can smell your fingers burning especially if you put them to your nose, But you can smell it without doing that but have you?

When I play long they get wet and the strings get dirty and I can`t do a slide propertly because my fingers get stuck on frets.

Burning? That's a strange thought, but, not impossible. Everyone's body chemistry reacts with metals differently. (The reason I don't let anyone else play any of my guitars and the reason I change strings on my studio guitars if someone decides to use one.) Your fingers can smell like almost anything after playing. This will vary with the strings you use, how old they are, and what other crap is on them.

I'm with Danno here. Smelling my own fingers isn't a top priority, unless there's a damned good reason to do so.

LOL!!!!!!!

your fingers were on fire!

no. maybe its your reaction to metal because it would take a lot of friction to create something like that, i doubt yngwie fingers burn nor any other of those shredder types. You must be having a reaction to the strings or the wood. I hear i think its was Paul Feroa (i think I'm misspelling this) wood has a very common allergic reaction to some people. If your frets are made of that it's possible. It feels somewhere in between rosewood and ebony or maple.

I have never smelled my fingers after playing guitar, but I do smell something burning after I'm done. I think it's just how much you play your guitar. I play about 3-4 hrs. a day and my fingers blister from that.

Sometimes, after playing for long, my fingers do smell. Then again, I have a very dirty fretboard, very dirty strings, very oily hands...
It's not exactly a burnt smell, but close enough. It's a combo of finger dirt and string-metal soaked in sweat, past the phase where my hands sweat and into the phase where they are wet and sticky, with black patches of sweat-dirt on the knuckles between fingers. Usually the time when I have to put down the guitar, hydrate myself, wipe the guitar, wash my hands and schedule a shower for that evening.

It's more than likely that "dirty metal" smell, really smells funky. I get that smell when my strings are old or I don't clean my guitar for a while.

Of course. You'd have to be a pretty amazing guitarist, with dry hands and old strings, to get actual burnt smell caused by friction. That would be scary...
