well what kinda music do you like??? i used to like punk or pop songs when i started out and the first songs i learned were 4 power chord crap by blink 182!!!!! learn some easy stuff that you listen to or get someone to teach you how to play mary had a little lamb as a beginner

Bored huh? You should learn something you perceive as just out of your skill range and practice it like a beotch. One of my faves when I was only just starting out was 'Sunshine of your love' by Cream. Never did manage that solo, though.

Learn popular songs you hear on the radio. They're more than likely easy and they'll boost your confidence.

Learn everything and anything you can. YOu can never know too much as a beginner. Maybe try the song "the unforgiven" by metallica. The solo may or maynot be hard for you, but hte important thing is to tackle it the best you can, as effeciently as you can. You can always try stuff slower, in pieces, or take a brake and try something else. just keep playing!

I'm just starting electric guitar myself, the first songs that i have learnt are Silent Night, Phantom of the opera, largo. I have also learnt the riffs of P!nk- Fingers, White Stripes-Seven Nation army, Deep Purple- Smoke on the water. You should start of with things like these because they are great for beginners and you should also learn your scales, they will help you out in the future when you are playing guitar like a pro :) ENJOY

a good trick is on windows media player you can slow down songs (there is a menu but to just to half time press control-shift-s...and control shift n to go back to regular speed)....anyhow i find it really useful for learning the harder or faster bits of songs.
