Who here can record music? At what level? Wanna jam? Heck, even if you can only record 1 bloody track at a time, it might be pretty interesting to see what some of the other guys here might do with that track...

I'd almost like to see someone post a vocal only track, and then have everyone see what they could build around it, and what "mutations" would arise... I bet it'd be pretty cool.

You would have to use waves or mp3s cos I know inter opperability is a complete bitch between systems.

file format's not an issue; .wav or .aiff is OK. We used to do this at the old G.com a lot, it was pretty cool. Lots of people submitting backtracks and solos and sometimes even vox or drums.

I miss it, actually. It was a lot of fun...

Man, I am sure interested in doing this colaboration thing but unfortunately I am away from home (work related) and I don't have a computer of my own to transfer the files back and forth. All I can do right now is read guitar.com on my computer at work. (don't tell anyone)... However, I did bring my BR-600 and can do all the recording I want. I just cant bring the recorder into work to transfer recordings from it to the computer and such.

How will this work? (start with a bass or rythem guitar track and drums?)
Do you already have a track that's ready to build on?

I think I gotta figure out a way to pour fresh energy into my guitar noodling. Jams might help me do that, even if I never share the results...

Well, it looks promising based on the responses here so far; Personally, I'd like someone to submit a vocal only track, and see if we all couldn't build something around it... Alternatively, I'd also like to have someone post a lick, have us all learn said lick, and record a tune based around it... Stuff like that...

well what we are really gonna need first is a drum track at the least. without a solid rythm, it's a lot harder to proceed. so anyone with a good drum program should submit a track.......

I'm down for a jam, but I'm still very much in the learning process. If anything, this site is motivating me to get my sh*t together...I have this cakewalk thingy, but I haven't figured out how to use it yet. Anyone else have that program?

I've used Cakewalk, but it's been a couple years. If I can't help you with it, I can send you some books that will.

to start a recording with vocals only, sounds a bit disjointed to me, I think the best way to start is bass and drums, because that sets the pace, and it is the backbone to build from, you wouldnt build a house from the chimny down now would you? (or would you)...

Starting with just the vocals would be a hell of a lot more challenging, and therefore some might say more interesting, but it could work.
