Hope this isnt duplicate, this forum only seems to show "todays" posts. I have a Nady UHF-10 that I got for about $110, lasted about 1 year, and now has static in the sound. I looked as connectors, components, as much as I could without dissecting the thing, couldnt find anything meaningful.

So, first, any suggestions on fixes?

Second, please reccomend something for less than $150 and give you reasons why, please.

Thanks! Spy

Okay, in order:

1. My history with Nady stuff is similar to what you're going through. My "repair" suggestions would likely involve blunt objects or explosives used on the unit.

2. Stick with UHF, and I can suggest Shure, Audio-Technica, and AKG systems...I've had good sound and luck from all of 'em. While they may be outside your budget, lucking into a good setup used isn't all that hard if you're patient.

Thanks Zanary... Was hoping someone would answer him. Being a studio rat we avoid all wireless stuff so I didn't have a clue. +1 for your webcred!

All I've got is my work comp. I can't make any new posts, nor can I edit anything I've written. All they keep saying here is, "It's IE6. It works fine on IE7." Nice. If it doesn't work for a lot of people out there, who are in my position, then it's not working period. Just love the attitude that the problem is WE have to upgrade, (which isn't an option for me because I HAVE to use what they give me to use,) instead of fixing the real problem and making it work for everyone.

Thanks. I have to dump a guitar to get any gear right now, so my budget will be higher, around $200.

Picked it up last night. Nice unit, seems very sturdy, gold phono plug, strong cable. Transmitter uses 2 AA's, very solid enclosure for that. SQ seems great, we'll see on Saturday night. Its got 8 channels, auto-searching or manual, two buttons on the front; one scrolls through the 8channels, the other resets the association with the transmitter.

Gig last night with the new wireless went well. No hitches. I did, however, for the first time, notice the difference in SQ between the wireless and the Monster rock cable. To be free to move around and not step on cables is proving to be more valuable, at the moment. WIll do a review tomorrow.

Y'know. I've never tried a wireless system with any real luck... I dunno why, but it seems to me that cables feel a whole lot more reliable, you know? Fear of the unknown maybe...

Yes, I do know what you mean. A wireless rig needs two powered ends(one by battery) to function, and without interference. A solid cable needs no batteries, and unless you cut it or yank it out of a socket, it WILL work. Alas, given the same environment, in any application, a wireless connection is not as good as a wired one. The question is, is it worth the trade off.
