Hi,

That´s my first video on YouTube and i would be pleased if you watch it and rate it. And, of course, tell me what you think of it here, if you want too again, i would be pleased, no matter your opnion is positive or negative.
I recorded this video with my laptop´s webcam so, the sound and image are crappy, please consider that.

Thanks a lot guys!

Sounds pretty good. One word of advice, and you can get a refund if you think my advice stinks. Tighten up on your delay's regeneration so it can tail off faster. The repeats were rather loud compared to your signal and sortof muddied up the playing. but the playing was good though.

Thanks for the comment. I agree with you, i recorded it using an Analog Delay so the regeneration sounds too loud and slow, i kind of like that on some of my solo distortions, but in this case in some parts i feel what you said.

Not bad...your time starts out really rough, and continues to be rough in some spots, and some of your bends miss thier mark.

Some of the improved stuff is pretty good, and thoughtfull, like playing a lick and then taking the same lick up an octave, and it's good to see this isn't completely a note for note attempt. The fast stuff....too fast....slow it down...

I like the tone...I think it's a good cop of the original...and I think youre off to a great start. This was one of THE most influential solos I can point to that still have an effect on my playing. I learned this solo note for note in the late eighties, still know it, and it is still one of my favorite guitar solos of all time (meaning the delicate sound of thunder version). So great taste in solos, this one will teach you many things and appears to have given you quite a bit already! Keep going!

The delay seems to be overlapping the notes just a little but it sounds really good overall. Well done!

Hey guys, thanks for the comments and or opnions... i really like to hear what people think about me, improvising and doing my own stuff, my playing etc... it helps me (everyone i think) to "grow" up and evolute. It´s like guy-next-door opnions on guy-next-door stuff, not opnions on stuff done by our guitar "gods". It´s a shame i couldn´t arrange a better recording equipment, it really rushed my sound... as i said, i recorded it using the webcam´s microphone and guitar volume up, with backing tracks beeing generated by 2 speakers...
Anyway, thanks again for the comments!

sallan: Totally agreed, this is one of the most influential solos of all time. And i agree with you again on that, playing it slow but well is far more dificult than playing fast shred like pieces. And yes, i was out of time in some parts, and i missed some notes.

Fred Kraus: Thanks for the comment. About the Delay, i kind off did it on porpouse, because i wanted it to sound like a rollercoaster, you know, like spirals of sound if you know what i mean. That´s what made me get out of time in some parts, i think.

Next time turn so that we can see your fretboard.
Great job on the vid overall.

I think I might learn a few bars of that solo myself. I've never even tried learning it.

Thanks for the comment. I recorded it backside because i think it looked cool to see my hand moving in the back of the neck like a wave motion. But most of the videos i make, i record it upfront.
You should definately learn this solo note by note. I did it and it gave me a lot of glints i never had. It´s a very precise but still thoughtfull solo, with a lot of feelling and great tune.

Great job. The delay was a little strong. I like the way you mixed the Gilmour solo with some improv. I used to know that solo note for note but as the years have passed It is all improv now. It is one of those solos that a wrong note does not exist. I love playing it. Maybe I will post one too. All Improv. Just for fun.

Hey, thanks for the comment. I really find this solo very inspirating, and improvising on Gilmour´s solos are always a pleasure to the hands. He really have a strong influence on my playing, among other players. You should definately post your version too, when you do it, message me with the link and i will be pleased to hear it. Keep it up!

"Note for note solos", LOL, tickled me, sorry. So, I think you've proven what I already thought, they dont matter - MOST of the time. Let me explain.

I recently sent our promo pack to a booking agency. After 5 days, they called and booked us. The critique was "Why didnt you play the solos note for note", my response was "We have been on a very aggressive target of 40 songs in 6 months, so Ive been working them in where I can, and where they are needed." His example was my ending for The Ocean (I have it on video). I find it impossible to believe that a non-musician would even notice my non-note for note solo, let alone be bothered by it. He said "Even non guitarists notice that stuff". I agree, in some places... not end of the The Ocean. "You shook me all night long" - yes... and I learned it note for note (well, darned close anyway).

So, back to your video. Great job, love the tone. A bit rushed in some places, but I too, liked the mix of YOURS and DAVES. If someone would have asked me, I would have guessed that this songs' solo would have needed to be note for note. Thanks for proving me wrong.
