*****___Warning! These licks may cause your fretting hand to catch fire!___*****

In this thread we post ridiculous licks that just are down right almost impossible for the average guitar player. The point of this thread though isn't just to show off really hard licks(even though it plays a role) it's also about trying to play them, and to learn from them. Alright start posting them! Also please for everyone try and make it tabs instead of scores, also images instead text.

Alright I'll post the first one, the attached image is a lick from the song, "Wondeful Slippery Thing" by Guthrie Govan from his album, "Erotic Cakes". The lick should be played on a clean channel, making for you to make your legato even harder to perform. The video is of him playing it. The lick is around 1:21.

Er messed up on the name of the song, I accidentally left out an, r, in Wonderful. The songs name is, Wonderful Slippery Thing. Also I kinda need helping putting in the youtube video, do we use HTML or some sort of bbcode or something?

EDIT: Never mind found out you have to use HTML. The video attached to this post is the video for the lick. Also the lick is around where there is only 2:00 left in the video.

Sadly, I could probably only play the lick up to around 1/4-1/2 the speed. Well to help the thread a long here's another lick a-la Ron Thal, otherwise known as Bumblefoot. The songs name is, "I can't play the blues" off of his, "Hermit" album, the album was released when he was still going by Ron Thal. It's a fairly difficult lick, and by fairly I mean really hard. What's going on is lots of legato and tapping mixed with some string skipping. That then leads into a rather strange octave displaced what one might consider an Indian-ish scale, but what seems that has like every tone raised, not sure it's pretty weird. Then keeps going with the octave displacement, then ends with a slide. The majority of this is going by 32nds and septuplets. The lick occurs when there's is about 2:06 left in the video. Both image and video are attached, enjoy. :)

Alright guys, been a while since I've updated. Here's another new lick(s) by Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, since I can't find a video of him playing the song on youtube, I have recorded the guitar pro playing of it, sound and showing note placement. I of course will also upload the pictures of it, and also a video of cover band attempting the solo. Alright lets get at it! Here's what we're dealing with, this is the solo from the song, "Hands" by Ron from his album, "Hands". Now lets do a run down of what's going on, it starts out with a neat legato sliding lick then into some bends, and descending arps. Most of everything is either in 16ths, 8ths, or groupings of triplets or sextuplets. Then a pretty fast descending legato lick. Then goes into some more slow paying mixed with some harmonics, and whammy usage. Then goes into a fast string skipped legato, and picked lick. Then some really fast legato and tapping weird chromatic esque lick, that's played in almost straight 32nds. Then a quick ascending legato lick mixed with a little string skipping with the legato. Another harmonic, then... a very fast and more of the more difficult part of this solo, almost everything is 32nds, and 32nds triplets this all mixed in with huge legato stretches, and complex weird finger positioning at very fast speeds while being string skipped. Of course like all licks in this thread it's very difficult. I recommend working on your timing, and A LOT on your legato for this solo.

And here is the cover band of Bumblefoot called, "Uncool" rightfully named after his Uncool album. Attempting the song and solo, it's pretty good actually, but anyways the solo starts at when 1:08 is left.

Awesome. Thal's a beast. I'd like it if he was a contributing writer for GnR... (Maybe he is, I'm just not in the "know"...)
