Alright so keeping in mind that this project would be a clone of this drool-worthy guitar....

Now,I wanna start off with this guitar cause it has the right exact kind of neck(except for the headstock which can be sanded off),remove the second string tree, fill out the screw holes and drill new ones for the pickguard and it has the exact same body shape...

Now,i know this project will be tricky but that's what I want:to challenge myself building my first guitar.

For pickups,Eddie used a vintage Gibson PAF pickup straight out of a ES-335(which you can find on eBay for at least 200$) but I won't do that since the budget is tight....

Instead,i'm gonna get myself a slightly better pickup(in terms of output) but same dynamics and everything....

A Seymour Duncan Custom Custom SH-11.

This pickup is renowned for getting that "brown sound" after my extended research.

Since this Hello Kitty guitar has a stop tailpiece,i'm going to convert to a Fender tremolo just like Eddie's.

May take a little routing but that's ok.

As for the input goes,I can get a pro shop guy to do the routing and the wiring and show me how to do for future projects I also have in mind.

For pickguards,I can always find one at pickguards.com or even get one at the downtown music store for even cheaper.

So wish me luck,I'm sure it'll turn out great.

good man! i am also working on an EVH replica, but i am doing the frankenstein as it sits at this current time. the one with the red. i took a bit of a different approach with mine. i went to www.warmoth.com and ordered all of the parts exactly as eddie had them on his guitar already. one thing you will find out though, is the body of his guitar is not a strat body, it is actually a factory 2nd body he picked out of a pile because it was cheap, so you know what, the way you are making it is PERFECT!!! im sure you can make it very similar. it may be difficult to get the same exact tone as him though, as his body was made of ash, and the hello kitty one is probably not. and also, his pickup was actually broken, and when it was tested for electrical continuity, it basically read on the meter that it shouldnt even be working! it is almost imposible to make that happen unless you are a professional custom pickup maker. i am doing the same thing as you with my pickup, i am getting a different one and going with that. i chose the seymore duncan screamin' demon' because it is a medium output pickup that cleans up really well when you turn the volume knob down. if you are looking for part for thisguitar you should go to warmoth.com , they should have everything you need and then some. please keep us updated on your progress with this! im sure it will be really cool when it is done! oh yeah, and im not sure how much reasearch you have done on the paint, but i can tell you that eddie used schwinn bicycle paint to paint his original. he basically painted the whole thing black, wrapped masking tape around the body all over, and then painted the white over it, when you remove the tape, you have the stripes! yee haw! do a good web search too, you can find a TON of pics of the original to copy it. also, be careful when replacing the bridge so you get the saddles in the right spot so it makes the right tones... good luck man! hope it goes well!!!

I think you should keep the Hello Kitty theme. It's kind of goofy and definitely something I could see EVH himself using, maybe Paul Gilbert too.
