Humbuckers, definetly. Sound so much better with wicked distortion than single coil. And distortion is sweet.

Most definitely Humbuckers. They just have such a great sound to them. Single Coils are good, but Humbuckers are just better.

For distorted sounds, or high gain ... I prefer humbuckers.

For clean tones, and all around playing ... I prefer single coils.

When I was younger I was all humbuckers all the time ... but now I find myself using single coils more and more.

Depends on my mood and amp setting. I'm happy both ways tonally. Buzz-wise I'm a bucker addict.

It all depends on what I'm playing. But, I have an HSS, so I usually use both. But it's either, or. I never mix. For most of my soloing I'll run the bucker, but if I usually switch to the neck single for arpeggios and stuff. Sorry for the book, lol.

I used to be all about hums...and I still love 'em. However, after getting a couple higher-end single coil guitars, I've come to use singles on most clean stuff and on distorted songs when there's a humbucker to mix the single tone against.

In a previous cover band, we got fantastic sounds when mixing my Tele-like tones from my Bluesboy against the other guy's '58 RI Les Paul. No mud, very complementing sounds.

My G&L "Strat" used to have all hums, but I switched it to a pair of Duncan Alnico II Pro singles with a Li'l Screamin' Demon in the bridge...and I happily play everything from Aerosmith to Alice in Chains to 'Zeppelin on that axe.

Humbuckers in single coil format are my favourite pickups. The Dimarzio HS-3's sound almost exactly like a real single coil without the hum.

You could just get humbuckers with coil taps, then you get the best of both worlds.!!

depends if you want sound that bites through (singles rule) but for that fat wall of sound it gotta be the buckers, even better active buckers.
