I plan on purchasing a gibson les paul soon, and i was wondering if dunlop strap locks can be installed without needing holes drilled first.

yes, you remove your original strap buttons and replace them with the ones that come in the package, going right back in the opriginal holes.

i use Schaller straplocks on both my LP"s.

me too bro they are the best

but for mrkmas if your locks don't fit or if they begin to become loose don't freak just put in either several little shreds of toothpick or 1 smallish piece but larger than the others and some wood glue to fix that up.

I use these Dunlop plastic straplocks: http://elderly.com/accessories/items/SL1S.htm They last a long time, are cheap, and no additional hardware/installation is required.
