Sounds like a bridge adjustment issue, but more information would be helpful. You may also want to check your nut to see if there's a split in it.

It means that your neck is bowing too far back, you need to loosen your truss rod, although i strongly suggest you ask someone who knows what they're doing to fix it for you. If you mess it up you could really damage the guitar, and seeing as it's a strat.. you don't want that :P I had the same problem a couple months ago on my strat. Here's one site I found with some good info, http://www.fretnotguitarrepair.com/trussrods.htm , you can always just Google "truss rod" I could be wrong about this but it seems to fit if you're getting a buzzing sound.

that actually sounds like the problem to me as well. there are numerous sites to check out to make that adjustment. DON'T just try to do it without knowing what it entails. take it to a shop if it confuses you....allthough it really is a rather simple little adjusment....of course the very first thing you can do is to raise the saddles on the bridge. if,and only if, this doesn't fix your problem should you even CONSIDER a truss rod adjustment....you should also check the really higher frets for similiar buzz issues.

"would changing the truss rod help? "

And that speaks volumes..

Changing the strings is probably a good idea however; my best advice to you is take the guitar to a shop and have a complete set-up done. (change strings, adjust bridge height, adjust truss rod if needed, etc).
Shouldn't really cost much but the best way to know would be call a few places and ask the price for a "set up for a strat".

Good Luck..

Changing the string probably will not help. Unless you changed the strings right before this started happening. If you went to a lighter gauge, then buzzing is possible.

Don't worry about the truss rod. It's not something you change. It's an integral part of your neck and is there for tension adjustments only. IF YOU DON"T KNOW HOW TO DO IT, DON'T TOUCH IT!

I'd suggest raising the bridge slightly, but if that doesn't do it, or if you find it more difficult to play, then take it to a shop. It shouldn't cost an arm and a leg. A decent tech should be able to identify and correct the problem in 15 minutes or less. (That doesn't mean you won't be without your guitar for a week, depending on how busy the shop is.) Actually, don't even mention the problem with the buzzing. Take it to the shop and tell the tech you need to get the setup adjusted.

Why did this happen? It's the nature of guitars. If you live where it's humid, you'll find that the spring and fall, (when the temperatures are changing from warm to cold and back,) is the most likely time to have some issues with your guitar. It's made of wood and even though mostly "sealed" with a finish, is still affected by weather, heat, cold, humidity, etc. It's not a major problem. Just a minor issue, so don't worry about it.

Just get a setup done. If there is anything more, the tech will tell you.

Xark has a point.. if you changed string gages and this started happening then that's a different story. You can change back to the gage you did have and see if it helps.

He is also right in stating this is just something that happens. To echo his thoughts this is NOT a major problem just a minor issue.. annoying as it is.
