Ibanez JS100Blk.

Spear Gladius in Spalt Maple.

No name Classical nylon strung acoustic.

And many, many long gone guitars I wish I had kept, like the Donnie JS with the cool paint job..

I currently only own my SG Special, but below is a list of guitars I've owned in the past.

BC Rich Ironbird Platinum Series

BC Rich super strat - L.A. Series

Yamaha SBG500

Ibanez Proline Series PL2660

Axetech strat copy

Cort "Matt Guitar Murphy" model MGM-1

Squire strat - early 80's JV series

Jackson Dinky forget the model but it was a professional series

unknown acoustic guitar...martin copy

Profile P-Bass copy

unknown guitar, looked like a strat that was frankenstiened, bought for $50 to get the EMG single coils to put in the Squire

Dean 7 string stratstyle guitar

Clearly since I've owned these over a period of 15 years and only had a max of 4 guitars at one time, my GAS was more about effects; which I was constantly trading and buying and selling. Especially since to date I've owned 4 amplifiers and one of them was with me for 10 years and only once did I have more than one amp at once.

Ok here we go

Fender CIJ Strat (Black w/mint green pick guard and Rosewood Fretboard)
Fender MIM Nashville Tele Black with Maple neck & fretboard
Ibanez (old '85 model with one humbucker at the bridge)
One off semi hollow (made by a guy in Norfolk Va) single humbucker at the neck
Danoelectro Pro 63
Gretsch 5022 A/E
Alverez 12 String
Epiphone Biscuit Resonator
Epiphone Texan 12 acoustic (heavily modified to be a 6 string)
Martin LX1 Travel Guitar
Nylon String Classical (I bought in Panama)
Fender Strat (currently a project) I have high hopes for

None of these will set the world on fire, but I am able to play a lot of different stuff and I've been lucky in that all of these are nice axes and they all get a fair amount of attention however the Fenders (love the Nashville) and the Gretsch get played the most.

64 Strat Rosewood -- I've had it for 37 years now ! (sounds weird)
An early 80's Yamaha HollowBody Archtop -- kind of an L5 thing (pictured)

I am in-lust with all of my guitars and would never part with them (by choice). I can't imagine adding to my collection ..... unless Duane decides to loan me his '62 ES-335.

Duane has WAY too many quality guitars for his own good -- don't ya think? :-)

1. fullerton 62 ri strat (awesome)
2. custom 62 ri (warmoth neck)
3. prs custom 22 (collecting dust...used to be my main axe)
4. Les paul standard
----

Next will either be another 60s strat or a custom warmoth with all walnut and warmoth pro neck and i want to try the ebony fret board..with koa wood OR a custom Wayne Charvel...Or..hmm maybe an 80s Kramer pacer/// Not sure yet.LOL.

I remember some cool guitars in the past and I know the 80s 62 ri i will; always have..You know its wierd how some guitars even f they are the sme model are different. The ones with the MOJO and FEEL are the one's we keep forever.

Here's my question. If you had to choose between great sounding somethng or other or a guitar that just has the ultimate feel which would you choose? I go with feel because you just play better on what you feel at home wth..My old strat has both!

Nice! Have a great time. I lve n the northeast as well..South Jsersey (by philly) its almost 70 i thnk...It is a nice day.

the two strat colors are the surf green (might be rare its really faded all over the place) and the faded white to now natural cream .. I guess they could look southern..I do like em aged well...something about the nitro wood exposed in certain areas i think gives it the tone and feel i like.

My collection fluctuates fairly rapidly these days:

1991? RT650: Wilkinson trem, Gotoh locking tuners, Graphtech nut, Dimarzio Cruiser Neck / Mid, Dimarzio Fast Track 2 bridge. It's a strat killer! And that Fast Track 2 is easily as beefy as any humbucker, but keeps that nice strat attack. Very metal!

2007 RG2EX1: Gold Gotoh locking tuners, flat-mount hardtail bridge, Dimarzio D-Activators. I'd really like another one of these in White with Breeds, but we'll see.

2006 AES10EAM acoustic / electric. Awesome guitar.

2008 SRX390 bass. HUGE bass sound, but I want something a bit stringier, a la Jazz Bass. I'm in the market for an Ibanez lawsuit J-Bass.

Gotta luv the Spongebob strat. I have a Gibson Les Paul electric and a Martin D18 acoustic. I made a vow to get over my gas when I traded most of what I had for the Martin, but the gas is slowly creeping back. I was looking a Martin DXKW koa at Best Buys yesterday. It is that EPL pressed laminate stuff, but I have to say it sounded great and only $450.,,must resist....must fight gas...

Being a noob around here (the only place) I've yet to learn the art of piccie'ing.
So, current list
Cort EVL-K6 - brilliant
H&S (German) 12 swtring Les Paul thing made out of Chinese bits but pretty nice
Yamaha RGX-211 with Bill Lawrence 500L at the bridge and DiMarzio soapbar at neck recently retired as my main axe after 25 years service.
Shaftsbury Rikki 4001 bass
Oakman electro acoustic
THE FRANKENTORIA - Old Antoria LP with an Eko 12 string neck (held together with real neck bolts)

Special ones that got away (due to hard times)
'74 LP Black Beauty with P90s - too heavy for long sets so swapped for:
'61 LP/SG Custom - just legendary
'77 Pack Leader - hand made by Roger Bucknall of Fylde fame. Best axe ever made in UK
Pre CBS Strat - POS that put me off Fender for life.

Thats quite a list there Brian, hope the Eco-mentallists aren't looking at this thread, they'll be pissing in their Hush Puppies and weeping at how many tree's have made up this post!

Tell me two things, how do you find the Cort? And secondly, I saw those H&S on FleaBay a while back and was eyeing up the 7-string, are they really that badly finished? I guess the price should have gave it away but I was reckoning on stripping the electrics and pots etc and re-doing them if the guitar itself was a good player. Unfortunately I cant just pop out and try before I buy and your the first person I know has bought one.

The Cort is brilliant for the money. Despite being 25.5 scale and FR equipped it actually plays quite like an SG in that it feels bigger than it is. The finish and attention to detail is astounding. Sound is also far more versatile than I imagined a pair of EMGs were capable of being quite good for blues, rock and metal (of course).
H&S went out of business soon after I got mine. To be honest, I just wanted a basic electric 12 and it was the cheapest around. I had to wait 3 months for delivery but they were pretty good at keeping me informed. Finish on it is certainly comparable to the best Epis I've seen and the factory setup was perfect, so no complaints at all. If you ever see one of the Heaven Seven ones, snap it up.
If you get desperate for a 7, try Tim Ellis, but I don't have to tell you anything about him.

Actually I did plan on contacting him about a PGM style custom.........but thats in the future of course.

Thanks for that Brian, I'll keep my eyes open for the H&S, they shouldn't be too expensive to buy second-hand so I'll see what I can dig up. Glad you like the Cort too, I've been banging their drum for the last while and good to get a review from someone that actually plays one regular.

Cort started doing amazing things starting in the mid/late 90's... I can remember they used to sell them in the Sears Catalogue in the late 80's... that decade's version of the Sears Silvertone model guitars.

I loved my Cort MGM-1, but sold it because I wanted the SG for as long as I can remember and had to choose. If I ever get another guitar again, I'd consider a Cort if the right one came my way.

If I can ever get around to uploading some tracks from my old band that were recorded with the MGM-1 I'll have to bring them to your guys attention. Most people don't believe me when I tell the fat wall of sound rhythm guitars are not the Les Paul they assumed it to be.

Thats most definitely something I'd have my ears syringed for just to hear it more clearly. If I'm honest I would part with the Spear for a good Cort, I just like the feel and finish of them a lot.

I bet if I'd held onto my MGM-1 it might have eventually become valuable if Cort ever gains the rep that Fender and Gibson have.

A few minor flaws in the finish such as a few spots where the laquer had dripped and some stain bled over the binding a tiny bit and a few marks from the tools used to carve the maple top; but the colour was unique for that year. It was the only year they offered the MGM-1 in transparent Purple.

That was a keeper!!!!

I think the way Cort are going, and the recent meteoric rise in production quality, which lets face it was good anyway, then sure, the big guns better stay loaded and ready.

Speaking of purple guitars, a guy I used to be in a band with before the arthritis and all that crap set in, had a beautiful Ibanez RG550LTD in a really strange purple finish, think it was made in the early to mid 90's. but damn it looked good.

Problem was, he had it the way it was when he bought it and it was a dog to play, I mean seriously you could limbo dance under the strings the action was that bad, I asked him to spend a few quid getting it set up properly but he hadn't the first clue. We fell out months after the band thing. He still has that guitar from what I hear, I wonder if he'd sell it for a good price? I might get some thumb-screws and wire his nuts up to a socket.....gentle persuasion eh!!!

You do know that the Cort factory makes around 30% of all guitars in the world? Only a tiny part of their production is self branded. The rest get called Schecter, Ibanez, Fender and a rake of other names that are a well-kept secret.
