Well i'm sort of stuck because i've got to the stage where I can play miost things, but i've never really got a song, and learnt everything including the solo. Which is kind of stupid. What songs do you think I should be playing. bearing in mind my favoroute music is metal.

pick your favourite song and learn how to play every single riff, lick, and little thing about it...
or learn the full Stairway to Heaven or Crazy Train haha... also, as an excercise, once youve learned a song or a new riff or lick try to toy around with it to make it your own unique... for example try to write a "better" solo to Stairway to Heaven hahaha as if it is possible... it will help you find your own voice as a guitarist

maybe after that if you're still "stuck in a rut", you can do what DImebag used to do and record yourself playing a rhythm riff and then jam over it.

find some friends and jam with them. take turns playings leads over some simple rythm passages. or simply start noodling some leads over the verse sections of some songs.
