i play my weirded-out highway one strat cause it's amazing.
my mom took out a loan just to buy it, when she knew she didnt have money for it. then she let me make it look how i wanted and even paid for a new humbucker in the bridge and the routing for it (about 200 usd). it's special to me, and sounds beautiful.

I play an RG because that's what I tried first as a complete noob and liked the looks of it and because I didn't find a shop with squiers as was my original plan and I didn't trust yamaha (they made motorbikes as far as I was concerned). Yep, I was as ignorant and shallow in my choice as one could be.

Actually Yamaha made musical instruments before they made other stuff. Look at their logo, it's three tuning forks.

And I can tell you from experience (I used to own 2 yamaha pacificas and a classical that my ex stole) that yamaha makes some damn fine instruments. They have fantastic QC, so even their lower-end stuff is as good or better than some other companies' mid or even high-end gear. I also love their pianos...specifically their uprights. The action and percussive tone they get is phenomenal.

I have to admit however...I have been drawn into the dark side of the force by Ibanez. I love my Ibanez guitars and probably won't buy any other brand.

The guitar I play the most is my Gibson SG. All I can say is that it fits my hands..
I have always liked Gibsons and humbuckers.

I also have a Gibson Les Paul
Gibson ES335T
Fender Statocaster
Ovation Celebrity
Grand acoustic bass

I would give all the others up before I gave up the SG

I love Ibanez guitars. I really like strats too, but I like Ibanez so much that I actually bought an old RT series and turned it into a "strat". I have 2 RG's, an orange one with evolutions and a white one with super distortions, an RX170 that I picked up for next to nothing that I will likewise turn into a Hendrix-looking strat (22 frets, maple neck, black body, 2-point standard trem). Now if only I can find an off-white one to turn into an Yngwie "strat" ;)
There are a few other axes lying around but these are my main ones that are actually in working status right now.

Sadly though, all of this guitar-shopping will have to wait until I have furniture and a car. After that, it's an amp. So it'll be a good long while before I get a new axe.

I only have an Epiphone Standard. Why? I've wanted a Les Paul, and that guitar was in my price range. I just really love Les Pauls, and Epiphones arn't all that bad. Actually, I plan on replacing the pickups and tuners in the future, those are the only problems it has. Otherwise, it's a really good guitar.

I also have an epi lp. I think it is a great guitar for what it is.

My main guitar however is my newest baby - A 1962 Vintage Fender Strat

I chose it because when I played it every peice of hardware just worked together so well to suit my playing style. The rosewood fingerboard gives it a slight grungy edge when needed. The vintage pups scream Hendrix and the nitro lacquer opposed to the polyurethane thick plasting coating you get on most guitar these days, gives it a real sweet tone (despite chipping like a complete bastard!)

On the clean setting it is thick and bright as you would expect from a strat. Add just a touch of gain and you get a lovely rough tone that sounds clean for the most part until you pull out a double stop and it just gets beautifully dirty. Crank the gain up some more and its just pure rock and roll. I love it.

I primarily use a Parker Fly. I was looking for a very versatile guitar and the Parker is hollow so it serves as an electric and an acoustic and has one of the cleanest tones (in my opinion). Since I was using a rack mounted f/x unit I wanted a clean tone that I could distort. The only drawback I have found is that it lacks the sustain of other guitars, but to me the benefits out weigh the lack of sustain. I have other guitars but none match up to the Parker.

My acoustics are all classical guitars. My main classical is an Ibanez with single cutaway and active electronics.

My electrics are all 7 string guitars. I have an Epi 7 string Les Paul. I also have a 7 string squier fat strat. (not the stagemaster). But my main guitar is an ESP M-207. That guitar is a shredder/metal dream. It's comfortable, and the neck is so fast and effortless, it practically plays itself. As the debate goes, yea, you can shred on just about anything, but clearly some guitars are better for shredding than others. The ESP is far better for me than my strat and LP.
