It's not always possible to find equipment we own through the 'search and add' method.

It would be nice to be able to manually input some equipment with a description and a link to the product if there is one.

since its all going through musicians friend, you can just find what you want there, copy the product title, and paste it in the search here. that's what ive been doing

Aaron - Totally understand where you're coming from. In order to credit you financially if someone purchases through your recommendation, we need to do it through our affiliates. We hope to add more affiliates moving forward to include more gear.

Does it have to be an ad though? I thought it would just be nice to be able to list the equipment we have even if its not linked to anything, just so that other members can see what we like to use, etc.

Well, a recomendation is not about showing off what you like.
Its purpose is to suggest to other people what gear THEY should check out and possibly buy.

So that means you're using the wrong feature for the wrong purpose :)

Aaron, we thought about this. Letting people upload photos and descriptions of their gear even if not available for purchase. Thanks for bringing this up. We're also considering original photos for the instruments that can be purchased, like a secondary image. Thanks again.

I've tried to enter some gear, like going to Musicians Friend, copying the product description, and pasting it in......nothing. I tried 4 ways to enter gear, and none of them work.

I'm having trouble finding gear as well, i.e. Vox AC30 cc2 does not return any close results, maybe the product recommendation lists can be broadened.

Hello Steve. All our gear listings come from musiciansfriend.com. We're working on other sources for data at the moment. Quite a few people have commented on their gear not being available. Would you mind telling me some of the gear you're looking for but cannot find?
